Increase in Allowable Cost per Job

On December 19, 2005 the CAIP Finance Committee approved a change in the CAIP Guidelines governing the Direct Credit Program.  By their action, they increased the allowable cost per job created to $50,000 from the prior $35,000.  The change is reflected on page 9 of the revised Guidelines and took effect immediately.  The job cost requirements for the SBA and USDA programs are unchanged.  Please feel free to contact us if there are any questions.

Partial County Eligibility

The Finance Committee of the CAIP adopted a change in the program’s Guidelines in April of 2004 that opened program eligibility for areas that are less than an entire county. It was the intention of the Committee to acknowledge that, particularly with respect to very large counties, a portion of an otherwise prosperous county could suffer from Nafta related job losses and be sufficiently removed from the areas of prosperity as to warrant assistance from the CAIP. Essentially the criteria for partial county eligibility is the same as for full county eligibility except the area requesting consideration has to be easily distinguishable with clear geographic markers (e.g., a highway, river, political subdivision, etc.).

The details of the change are found in the Guidelines in Part II, Item 4. Interested parties should review the application that has been prepared to provide assistance or contact the CAIP Office. Newly Eligible Counties As of February 2004: Tunica, MS Cabarrus, NC Rowan, NC Manitowoc, NC
